About Robbie Crow
Robbie is a young pipe band drummer who lives in Airth, which is a small village in Scotland. It is located in the central belt between Falkirk and Stirling.
Robbie started his pipe band drumming career at the age of 13 in the Alloa Bowmar Pipe Band, where he was instructed by Seth Boyd and also Graham "Snowy" Winters. Robbie currently is registered within the RSPBA as a playing member of Denny & Dunipace grade 4 pipe band. Although he plays side drum in the band, he does play bass drum aswell.
In the year of 2007, Robbie competed in his first ever Solo Competition, and for his debut competition, he decided to enter none other than the World Solo Drumming championships, which that year was to be held in Glasgow Calidonia University. At the end of the day, Robbie placed 31st in this competition out of 32 drummers. This may not seem to be all that good, but since it was his first attempt, Robbie was perfectly happy with his acheivement.
Robbie also has a keein interest in Sailing, he sails with a Sail Training organisation in Scotland called OYT Scotland. This year, he went on a challenge voyage with them, and sailed all the way around Ireland. In total the voyage took 16 days to complete, this was a huge acheivement for Robbie! What many people do not know about Robbie is that he is Registered Blind. Along side being a scottish pipe band drummer and a keen sailor, Robbie is also the Ambassador for a charity called MACS. He is a saftey net to parents of new borns who are born blind, as they can see what he turned out like, and he is also a role model to other blind children within the charity. Robbie's main eye conditions are; Microphthalmia and Coloboma.
